Movies Silently, after success with previous themed blogathons, is holding another in November based around the theme of fairy tales. Anyone who is familiar with my film research specialisms knows that I am particularly fond of fantasy and fairy tales. My university dissertation for instance was focused on the influence that fairy tales had upon German Expressionist literature, art, and film.
The blogathon is simple. Film fans all over the world have nominated themselves for a particularly film or TV show that is based on a particularly fairy tale (no matter how loosely it has adapted it), and I have chosen two favourites of mine: Beauty and the Beast (1991), and the TV show Once Upon A Time (2011-). You can find out more about the blogathon here, as well as finding links to the blogs of the other participants (and see which films/TV they have chosen), and if you wish to take part, be sure to contact Movies Silently through the blog or Twitter soon!
You will find reviews of both Beauty and the Beast and Once Upon A Time between 9th – 11th November, so be sure to check my blog at those times! My Once Upon A Time review will focus on specific fairy tales within the show and how they have been presented rather than dealing with the show as a whole (if you have seen it, you will understand how complicated that can be!). Keep an eye on my blog (or follow/subscribe), and you will be notified of when there are new posts on the site, including my fairytale reviews!
