Starting Saturday, BBC2 each morning are having double bills of classical movies starring a specific classical Hollywood actor each day.

The double bills start with two Katharine Hepburn movies on Saturday morning – Sylvia Scarlett and The Little Minister, moving onto two Anna Neagle movies on Sunday morning including They Flew Alone and Yellow Canary.

On Monday morning, BBC2 will be showing Swing Time and The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle (both starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers). Then Tuesday morning we have another two Fred Astaire movies with The Sky’s The Limit and Top Hat. Wednesday morning then gives us another two Ginger Rogers movies with Lucky Partners and Kitty Foyle.

Thursday morning  moves onto someone a little different – James Stewart starring in Vivacious Lady (which also stars Ginger Rogers), and Magic Town.

And the week ends with two Randolph Scott films including the Western Badman’s Territory and the WWII adventure Bombardier.

It’s going to be a great week and each morning is worth getting up a little earlier for, especially if you’re a fan of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, or a fan of classical cinema in general.
